Our Programs

Toddlers to School-Agers

Toddlers

In our toddler program, we focus on helping each child grow and thrive with the right balance of attention, supervision, and structure as we believe that structure plays a vital role in childhood development. However, we also encourage toddlers to make choices and assert their independence in their learning. From first steps to first friendships, we focus on nurturing each little one physically, emotionally, and cognitively through engaging activities and creative play.

At this stage, toddlers are eager to explore, and our program provides a safe environment for them to develop key skills like language, fine motor abilities, and self-help habits. As they begin communicating their needs and taking on simple tasks like cleaning up, we support their growing independence in a nurturing and safe setting.

Program goals and milestones

At Kolibri Daycare, we focus on fostering growth and development in a supportive environment. Here are some key milestones we aim to nurture in your toddler's journey:

  • Independence: Following simple directions, feeding themselves, and making choices in play.
  • Language Skills: Forming sentences, building vocabulary, and expressing emotions.
  • Problem Solving: Exploring their world, thinking creatively, and developing critical thinking.
  • Physical Growth: Improving fine motor skills (coloring, cutting) and gross motor skills (running, dancing).
  • Social Development: Engaging in cooperative play, recognizing emotions, and building social connections.
  • Emotional Awareness: Identifying and expressing emotions, understanding others' feelings.

At Kolibri, we're committed to helping your child reach these milestones in a fun, nurturing, and encouraging environment.

Twos

Our Twos program is designed to support the growth of your active 2-year-old by fostering their brain development, physical abilities, and social-emotional skills. As children transition from toddlers to preschoolers, our program offers a structured yet playful environment, featuring activities that cover language, math, science, arts, and music. Through stories and hands-on experiences, we help your child build essential early literacy skills, like letter recognition and vocabulary, while also encouraging important values such as patience, kindness, and self-confidence.

This is also the time when social interaction becomes a key focus. We start each day with group circle time to help children transition from individual play to collaborative participation. Our curriculum is designed to stimulate growth in language development, eye-hand coordination, problem-solving, and gross-motor skills, while preparing children for the next steps in their educational journey.

Potty training

At this stage, potty training is also introduced. We partner with parents who feel that their little ones are ready to curate the right journey for each child at the right time. By following a consistent approach, we ensure a smooth transition between potty training at home and daycare. With our guidance and support, your child will be confidently potty-trained in no time!

Program goals and milestones

At Kolibri Daycare, we aim to nurture the growth of your two-year-old with key milestones that foster independence, creativity, and social development. Here are the important goals we focus on:

  • Independence & Self-Help Skills: Following simple two-step directions, washing hands, using the restroom, and feeding themselves.
  • Physical Growth: Mastering large muscle movements like jumping, skipping, balancing, and catching balls. Fine motor skills are enhanced through activities like grasping and manipulating small objects, building with blocks, drawing with crayons, and using utensils.
  • Language Development: Expanding vocabulary and using three- to five-word phrases to respond to questions and engage in conversation. Children begin to express their thoughts and needs more clearly, developing stronger communication skills.
  • Routine & Consistency: Becoming familiar with daily routines and the flow of the day, which helps children feel secure and confident as they navigate activities.
  • Problem-Solving & Exploration: Developing critical thinking and creativity through play, making intentional choices about toys and materials, and learning to play with multiple toys at once.
  • Social Interaction & Play: Engaging in pretend play, intentionally playing with peers, and building friendships.
  • Emotional Awareness & Self-Understanding: Recognizing and expressing their own emotions, understanding the emotions of others, and building self-awareness in a social setting.

At Kolibri, we provide a nurturing and structured environment where your child can thrive through daily opportunities to grow physically, emotionally, socially, and cognitively. Every milestone is a step towards a confident, capable child!

Preschoolers

The preschool years are a time of incredible growth, creativity, and social development. At Kolibri, we design a fun and engaging day full where children build a strong foundation in literacy, math, language, and social-emotional skills. Through hands-on activities and creative play, we make learning enjoyable while preparing preschoolers for kindergarten and beyond.

Preschoolers are naturally curious and ready to tackle new challenges. Our curriculum supports their growth by encouraging independence, communication, and cooperation, all while fostering cognitive, physical, and emotional development. With a focus on safety, proper nutrition, and nurturing each child's individual needs, we provide the tools and support they need to thrive in a dynamic, interactive environment.

Program goals and milestones

At Kolibri Daycare, our preschool program is designed to foster the development of key milestones that prepare children for kindergarten and beyond. We focus on nurturing each child's social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language growth through intentional, hands-on learning experiences.

  • Independence & Self-Help Skills: Preschoolers are encouraged to gradually progress to following more complex tasks. They build confidence by mastering self-help skills like zipping, lacing, and buttoning.
  • Physical Development: Enhance their gross motor skills with activities like hopping, kicking, and balancing, while fine motor skills grow through writing, drawing, and hand-eye coordination tasks.
  • Social-Emotional Growth: Develop self-awareness, empathy, and cooperation skills, learning to interact with peers, express emotions, and understand family and community dynamics.
  • Language Development: Expand their vocabulary, engage in conversations, and begin to use complete sentences to express their thoughts and ideas. They build early literacy skills through letter recognition, writing, and listening skills.
  • Cognitive Development: Develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, using their growing knowledge to make sense of the world around them, such as identifying patterns and using logic.
  • Math: Explore early math concepts through fun activities like identifying shapes, counting objects, and recognizing numbers. They develop skills in sorting, patterning, and basic measurements, laying the foundation for future mathematical learning.
  • Nature & Science: Engage with the natural world by exploring animals, weather, and the environment, fostering curiosity and a deeper understanding of the physical world.

At Kolibri, we create an engaging, nurturing environment where children develop holistically, preparing them for future academic success while fostering a love for learning.

School-Agers

At Kolibri Daycare, we offer a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for your child after school, during school breaks, or over the summer. Our School-Agers Program provides a welcoming space for children to spend time outside of school hours, when availability permits. While you're at work, you can be confident that your child is safe, productive, and having fun!

We set your child up for success with flexible schedules, healthy meals and/or snacks, and quiet time for reading, puzzles, or S.T.E.M. play kits. In addition, they'll enjoy arts and crafts, fitness activities, and outdoor play. We also encourage children to bring their homework, offering a space with the supervision and support needed to complete assignments, giving you one less thing to worry about.

* We are more than happy to accommodate your family for outside of school hours, however, this program will be based on current capacity for the needed days/times.

* Kolibri does not provide school transportation at this time.
